“There’s a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”
— Leonard Cohen
I am Greyya Jay.
I’m a sculptural relief artist.
I relish in a sculptures raw imperfections, as these are the soul of my artworks. Soul, I feel, is lacking in our world today. Factory edges you’ll not find here.
Organic shapes serve as a reminder of the imperfections that make life worth living. They flow like your unmade bed, the chip in a loved coffee mug.
My work is intentionally understated through my use of muted monochrome color, in hopes that you can appreciate the subtle details and textures that create depth and dimensionality.
I experiment with various techniques to create the appearance of patina on my art with the layering of materials, or even natural weathering to achieve the desired effect.
Each piece is designed to be an immersive experience, inviting the viewer to explore the different contours and surfaces through touch and sight.
I seek to create as a tribute to the raw natural beauty of this world we all inhabit, and the imperfections that define a life well lived.
